Research Notes

  • There is a Manoel Avila, son of Manoel Avila da Costa that migrated through Angra do Heroismo in 1902. (Image 89)
  • There is a Maria do Rosario Avila that traveled through Terceira, Angra do Heroismo, the daughter of Francisco Jose Moreira and Maria do Rosario de Avila, natives of Norte Grande in the county of Velas on São Jorge. (image 77) (Silva-1055 18:47, 31 December 2018 (UTC))
    • If this is her, she was baptized on 15 Apr 1883 and born 12 Apr in Norte Grande (the birthdate doesn't match this profile). The baptism record says the daughter of Francisco Jose Moreira, a native of Franca on the island of Sao Miguel, and Maria do Rosario de Avila, native of Ribeira da Areia and living in the parish of the church. (images 7-8)
    • There was also a Maria born 12 Jun 1884, baptized on 20 Jun 1884, in Norte Grande, the daughter of Jorge Machado de Avila and Maria de Azevedo Bettencourt. A passport would need to be found to see if she migrated.
