Biography

Job Averill was born at York, Maine, c1671, the son of Thomas Averill and Frances Collins; died there, 5 Jul 1726; married at Boston, 25 Apr 1700, Mary Preble, daughter of Joseph Preble of England, Scituate and York about 1701, the marriage rites being performed by Cotton Mather. She died at York before 16 Oct 1745. [1]

  2. Joseph, b. Oct. 24, 1704; unm.; d. Nov. 16, 1723-4, at York, aged 19 yrs.
  3. Lydia S b. Jan. 26, 1706-7; d. Oct. 14, 1723, aged 16 yrs.
  4. Samuel, b. Apr. 18, 1709; m. Edith Hutchins.
  5. Job, jr., b. Mar. 2, 1710-1; unm.; d. Sept. 21, 1732, at York. His Estate was administered by his brother Samuel
  6. Abigail, b. Feb. 10, 1713-4; m. John Matthews. Both were living at N. Yarmouth, Me., Oct. 6, 1747 (see York Deeds, Alfred, Me.).
  7. Elizabeth, b. Feb. 8, 1715-6.
