Biography

Charles was born about 1760 in New Hampshire.

He was the son of Joseph Avery Sr and Anna Unknown.

He died in 1808.[1]

Research Notes

I searched the 1790 Census for Surname "Avery" in Gilmantown, Strafford, New Hampshire and found six households with oldest males as follows: Josiah Avery (1 person household; 1 male over age 16); David Avery (6 person household; 1 male under age 16, 2 males over age 16, and 3 females); Jonah Avery (7 person household; 1 male under 16, 1 male over 16, 5 females)' Josiah Avery (6 person household; 2 males over 16, 4 females); Samuel Avery, Esquire (5 person household; 1 male over 16, 4 females); Joseph Avery, Senior (4 person household; 1 male under 16, 1 male over 16, 2 females); Samuel Avery (4 person household; 1 male over 16, 3 females); Joseph Avery, Junior (2 person household; 1 male over 16, 1 female); and Jonathan Avery (6 person household; 1 male under 16, 1 male over 16, 4 females). No "Charles Avery" in New Hampshire state.

1790 Census seems to contain two Charles Avery enumerations: Vershire, Orange County, Vermont (1 male under 16, 1 male over 16, 4 females) and New London, Connecticut (1 male under 16, 1 male over 16, 2 females).
