Elizabeth Auberry was born about 1822 in Belmont County, Ohio. She is the daughter of Philip Auberry and Rachel Gilliland. There are many different spellings but similar soundings for her maiden name. The Coshocton History book; "History of Hocking Valley, CHICAGO: INTER-STATE PUBLISHING CO.1883." contains a small bio on her husband in which her maiden name is spelled Avery, however, her father's will in Belmont County spells his last name as Auberry. Several of her children's records have spellings such as Aubery, Alberry, Aubury, Aubrey, etc. In about 1841, after the death of her father, she moved to the Hocking County area. In 1842 she married Samuel Thompson, son of James Thompson and Margaret Garey/Geary. To this union, 9 children were born, 6 living at the time of the writing of the history book mentioned above; James Casper, George S, Hannah Janie, Samuel O, Charles F, John C, Clara Elizabeth, Chester Wesley and one missing name that may have died in infancy. Elizabeth passed away on 22 Jun 1898 in Starr Township, Hocking County, Ohio. She is buried at Mount Zion Cemetery, Cedar Grove, Hocking, Ohio with her husband who had died previously in 1890.
