Biography

This Emily Avery, born 17 Sep 1821 at Groton, Connecticut, was the third child of Betsey Wood (Lester) Avery (abt.1787-1837) and Latham Avery (1775-1845) ^[1].

She married 21 Mar 1842 @ Groton, Connecticut, Silas Henry Fish (1818-1884) ^[2], brother of the husband of Emily's sister Betsey Ann (Avery) Fish (1819-1889)]. They had 4 children, the following plus 2 daughters who died in infancy ^[3]:

• Henry Haggerty Fish (1842-1865); killed 1 Apr 1865, American Civil War Battle of Five Oaks, Virginia
• Edmund Phelps Fish (1845-); married Mary Sophia Houghton
