Amos Warren Avery was born 25 Jun 1831 at Buffalo, New York. He was the second child (son) of Abel Avery and Emeline Huldah Andrus.
He married 2 Jul 1853 @ Dansville, New York, Mary Ann Hitchcock [b. 1 Dec 1829 @ South Danville, NY, daughter of Horace & Clarissa (Dewey) Hitchcock; d. Dec 1896 @ Hornellsville, NY]; they had 2 children, born at South Dansville, New York:
- Herbert Amos Avery, b. 2 Feb 1857
- Luella May Avery, b. 27 Mar 1861
