James was born in 1849. His parents were Thomas Avery and Elizabeth Turvey. [1][2]
He married Ellen Sophia Doughty in 1873. [3] Ellen died in 1877. [4]
In 1881, James was living with his son, Walter. [5]
It is not yet known whether he stayed in England or emigrated to the U.S. with Walter.
