Phyllis Eleanor Avery was born on 20 December 1899, in Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand, the daughter of Joseph Davenport Avery, aged 25, and Edith Eleanor Whitton, aged 31. [1]
Marriage. She married Frederick John Carter on 22 October 1930, theirs being the first wedding in the new All Saints' Church, Otaki, Wellington, New Zealand. In the newspaper account of their wedding, her husband, was mentioned as Mr. F. J. Carter, diocesan treasurer (Wellington). The ceremony was performed by local vicar, Rev. G. K. Moir. The best man was Mr Fraser, of Wellington, and the bridesmaids. Miss Dorothy Avery (sister) and Miss Gretta Haylock. After the ceremony a reception for friends was held at the home of the bride’s parents, at Te Horo. [2] [3]
They had at least one child.
Phyllis died on 27 September 1978, at the age of 78. [4]
