Martha was born about 1656. She was the daughter of William Awbrey and Elizabeth Awbrey. [1]

Martha was a member of the Quaker faith and moved to Pennsylvania with her fiance, Rees Thomas. They were accompanied by John Bevan, an uncle of Rees Thomas, and Barbara Awbrey Bevan, Martha's aunt.[1]

Martha and Rees were married on April 18, 1692 in Haverford, Pennsylvania. They had at least 4 children:

Rees Thomas, Jr. who married Elizabeth Jones, daughter of Dr. Edward Jones, founder of Merion, Pennsylvania.
Awbrey Thomas returned to England where he married Gulielma Penn, granddaughter of William Penn.
Herbert Thomas who married Mary Havard, daughter of John Havard.
William Thomas who died fairly young.[1]

Martha passed away on December 7, 1726-7.[2]

Charles h. Browning, Welsh Settlement of Pennyslvania (1912), p p 138, says both Rees Thomas and his wife were related to John Bevan. On another page, it says that John Bevan's uncle - his mother's brother - was ncle, (his mother's brother), Thomas Richard (or Prichard) ap Evan, of Collena.

Found a profile that's NOT for her husband - Thomas-21216.

Marriage was at Haveford, "on the 18th of the Fourth Month [June], 1692" - see page 294, "Rees Thomas and Martha Awbrey, Early Settlers in Merion," George Vaux, The Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography, Vol. 13, No. 3 (Oct., 1889), pp. 292-297; published by The Historical Society of Pennsylvania; University of Pennsylvania Press.
