Research Notes

Lord Axminster and his unknown daughter who married "Mr. Cleveland, natural son of Oliver Cromwell and Elizabeth Cleveland," are fictional characters from a novel written by Abbé Prévost.[1] The daughter is sometimes confused with the real Dorcas, wife of the American immigrant, Roger Cleveland.
