Biography

Samuel was born on 17 Jun 1850 in Knox County, Ohio. He was the son of George Axtell and Amanda Farnham. On 16 Feb 1871, he married Mary Jane Gray (b. 29 Mar 1850 d. 1 Sep 1910) in Solsberry, Greene County, Indiana. He passed away on 18 Feb 1918 in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida, and was buried at Grandview Cemetery, Bloomfield, Indiana.

Samuel practiced law in Bloomfield, Indiana for 25 years before moving to Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada. He also served as Superintendant of Schools and States Attorney in Indiana.
