On October 17, 1900, Charles (25 - worked as a farmer), married Elma L. Grier (20), in Deep River, Poweshiek County, Iowa.[3][4][5].
On August 14, 1901, Charles and Elma gave birth to their son Erwin O., in Deep River[6].
On July 14, 1903, Charles and Elma, gave birth to their son Claudis Axtell, in Deep River[7].
On January 21, 1910, Charles (34 - worked as a lumberman) and Elma (29 - worked as a housewife), gave birth to their daughter Dorothy Duane Axtell, in Deep River, Poweshiek County, Iowa[8].
In 1910, Charles E. (33 - worked as a merchant selling lumber for homes), lived on Church Street, in Deep River, with his wife Elma L. (28 - born in Iowa), their son Erwin O. (8 - born in Iowa), their son Claudis G. (6 - born in Iowa), their daughter Lora A. (2 - born in Iowa) and their daughter Dorotha D. (2/12 - born in Iowa)[9].
On October 16, 1913, Charles (37 - worked as a lumberman) and Elma (32 - worked as a housewife), gave birth to their son Charles Wendell Axtell, in Deep River, Poweshiek County, Iowa[10].
On September 12, 1918, Charles (42 - described as short, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair and worked as a merchant), registered for World War I, in Iowa[11].

In 1925, Charles (48), lived in Deep River with his wife Elma (43), their son Erwin (23), their son Claudus (21), their daughter Lora (17), their daughter Dortha (15) and their son Wendell (11)[13].
On June 20, 1928, Lora Anne Axtell (21), married Bertram LeRoy Woodcock (23 - worked as a teacher), in Deep River[14].
In 1930, Charles E. (54 - worked as a retail merchant, selling building materials), lived on Church Street, in Deep River, with his wife Elma L. (48), their son Erwin O. (28 - worked as a house electrician), their daughter Dorothy D. (20) and their son Wendell C. (16)[15].
On February 2, 1935, Erwin O. Axtell (33 -worked in farming), married Hazel Fritz (22), in Cedar Rapids, Iowa[16].
In 1940, Charles E. (63 - worked as owner of a lumber yard), lived on Church Street, in Deep River, with his wife Elma L. (58) and their son C. Wendell (24 - worked as an attendant at a gas station)[17].
Charles Elias Axtell (95) passed away on November 26, 1971 and was buried in Goldenrod Cemetery, in Deep River, Poweshiek County, iowa[18].
