Fred, son of Sylvester Axtell and Rosella Condit, was born on 19 Apr 1894 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.^[1][2][3]

About 1916, Fred married Luella Mumford.^[4]

Fred passed away as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on 2 Apr 1943 at the Bashline-Rossman Hospital in Grove City, Mercer County, Pennsylvania^[5][6], and was buried at Fairfield Church Cemetery, New Vernon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania,^[7]
