Biography

Loveridge, son of Samuel Axtell and Mary Loveridge, was born on 24 Nov 1842 in Sheakleyville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. [1]

In Sep 1855, Samuel first married Sarah Holloway. Sarah passed away in 1857 at Council Bluffs, Iowa.[1]

On 17 Apr 1862, Loveridge married Fannie Wade in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.[1][2][3][4]

Loveridge studied for three years at Allegheny College. In 1854 he went to Kansas as a locating agent for a large colony from western Pennsylvania. At the first general election held in Kansas, he served as a judge, and, with all the free state men, was driven from the polls.[1]

Loveridge was a teacher, but in 1864, because of poor health, he gave up teaching and settled on a farm in Honey Creek, Iowa. In 1874 he served as a member of the Iowa State Legislature.[1]

Loveridge passed away on 2 Nov 1908 in Honey Creek, Pottawattamie County, Iowa[5], and was buried at Grange Cemetery in Honey Creek.[6]
