Research Notes
Records show first name spelled Zechariah or Zachariah almost interchangeably even by same record taker.
Some records show last name spelled as Eires; most show as Ayer, Ayers or Ayres.
#Treman reports that Zechariah Ayer "was presented to the court for gathering peas on the Sabbath." He gives the date as 1646, which was before Zechariah was born. He clearly has this incident confused with Zechariah's father-in-law, Aquila Chase who was fined for this very offense in 1646 and 1647, [3]
