Abigail was born on November 24, 1746. She was the daughter of David Ayer and Hannah Shepard of Haverhill, Massachusetts.[1]
She was united in marriage with Matthew Fairfield on October 22, 1767, in Haverhill, Massachusetts.[2] They first lived in Wenham, Massachusetts, and later New Boston, New Hampshire. They had the following children:[2]
Abigail, born July 25, 1768 in Wenham; died December 24, 1796, unmarried
Elizabeth (Betsey), born April 28, 1770 in Wenham; married William Crombie; died August 9, 1855
John, born February 11, 1773 in Wenham; married Mehitable Baker; died February 17, 1854
Hannah, born February 4, 1775 in Wenham; married Capt. Joseph Wilson
Alice, died in infancy
Sarah, born August 22, 1779 in Wenham; married Benjamin Fairfield; died April 13, 1817

Abigail died on January 28, 1825.[2] She is buried in New Boston Cemetery in New Boston, New Hampshire.[3]
