Biography

Evelyn Frances (Ayers) Wolf, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, 1 January 2018 at Beloit, Rock, Wisconsin. She was born on 9 July 1923 at Sheboygan, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lawrence Jacob Ayers, 1891-1970 and Clara M. (Lautenbach) Ayers, 1892-1978. She married Lloyd Keith Lagassa in 1943. He was killed in World War II in 1944. Then she married Lt. Donald Joseph Wolf, a West Point Military Academy graduate on 16 October 1945 at West Point, New York.

In 1954, after 8 years of military service Major Donald and Evelyn settled in Beloit, Wisconsin. Evelyn was a dedicated wife and mother of 72 years. She enjoyed the north woods and spending time fishing and Friday night fish fries. She was a charter member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Beloit.

Mrs. Wolf was survived by: her second husband, Donald; b. 1924; children, Michael (Jennifer) Wolf; and Patricia (Ayers) Krejci both of Milwaukee; Susan (Ivan) Naiman of Denver, Colorado; Timothy (Kathy) Wolf of Fuquay Springs, North Carolina; Steve (Beth) Wolf of Beloit, Wisconsin; Thomas Wolf of Mesa, Arizona; Jeanne (Jeff) Berner; and Mary (Richard) Rayment both of Beloit; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, first husband, Lloyd, 1919-1944; children, Mary Ayers; Joseph Ayers; siblings, Leo Joseph Ayers, 1920-1972; Marilyn A. (Ayers) Tresp, 1930-2016; son-in-law, John Krejci; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

The family extended its most sincere appreciation to the extraordinary people who cared for Evelyn over the last 7 years at the Azura Memory Care.

The family suggested memorials be given in honor of their dear Evelyn to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 225 North Michigan Avenue, 17th Floor, Chicago, Ill 60601.

Evelyn was cremated by Daley, Murphy, Wisch and Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium in Beloit, Wisconsin. Her remains were in the possession of family members and a private service was held with the family at a future date.
