When Sarah Ayers was born on February 22, 1848, in Ringgold, Iowa, her father, David Ayers, was 35, and her mother, Delilah, was 28.
Sarah married Alexander Worth Tansey on January 1, 1867 in Jasper County, IA, and census records indicate they had two children, Ozro (or Ozra) W. Tansey and Ora B. Tansey. Her sister Delilah was married to Manoah Barber Schooler, Sr., in 1865. Alexander Tansey murdered 5 people in 1872 and was subsequently hung after he was caught. Manoah had four children with Delilah: Arthur Schooler, Blanche Schooler Adams, Clara Schooler McGill, and Floyd Schooler. These nephews and nieces, now also stepchildren of Sarah's, continued to live with Sarah and Manoah after they married. Sarah's two children with Alexander Tansey lived with their grandmother Delilah Ayers according to census records.
Manoah and Sarah had seven children together: Carrol "Carl" Schooler, Ledraw "Richard" Schooler, Sarah Isabel "Sadie" Schooler McGill, Bessie May Schooler, Manoah Barber Schooler, Jr., Leroy Elvis Schooler, and Allen Robinson Schooler.
She died on July 22, 1904, in Oneida, Kansas, at the age of 56, and was buried there.
