Biography
Thelma was born Nov. 14, 1943 in Big Stone Gap, VA. She was the youngest of five daughters born to Robert Ayers and Elizabeth Johnson. Her parents divorced in 1946 and her father remarried to Virgie Collins in 1948.
She married Daniel Herold Mabe on Feb. 2, 1963. They had five sons. Danny preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2008. Two sons also preceded her in death: Donnie in 2012 and Robbie in 2014.
Thelma passed away on April 13, 2019 in Duffield, VA. Her remains are interred beside her husband's at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA.
