Henry Ayerst Reported Killed
"This morning official notice came from the Casualty Records Office at Ottawa, advising Mrs. Gertrude Ayerst of the death in action of Pte. Henry Ayerst, number 115929. Pte. Ayerst was killed in action on Saturday the 14th of this month. His mother resides at 1397 Third Avenue E. Prior to enlistment he was employed at Portage La Prairie and enlisted in the 10th C.M.R. at that place."

Ayearst [sic] - In loving memory of Pte. H. A. (Harry) Ayearst, 115929, 8th Battalion, 90th Rifles, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Ayearst, 1397 3rd Ave. E. killed in action in the battle of Vimy Ridge, on April 14th, 1917, buried at Willerval.
We remember the day when the cable came
And we knew that his race was run
And that nothing was left but an honored name
And a grave for our brother and son.
