Biography

The following information comes from the book citing online transcription [1] "Arthur Aylsworth and his Descendants in America" by Homer Aylsworth. Peleg was born in 1749 to Chad and Mary (Wood) Aylesworth. He married Anna Cole in 1772. Peleg and Anna left Foster, R. I., in the Autumn of 1797, and settled in Edmeston, Otsego Co.. N Y. between the Wharton Creek and the Unadilla River, west of Edmeston Centre. They dwelt there until 1820, when they removed to the western part of the town of New Berlin, Chenango Co., NY. Peleg passed on Aug. 20, 1824.

Peleg appears as head of household in the 1774 census of Rhode Island[2]. His household distribution and inferred attributions are then

  • Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch *Served in 1777 Rhode Island Military. (See attached document) *Private Aleworth promote to Corporal on1st Nov. 1815. *Corporal Alesworth was demotted to Private December 1816 at Fort Warren Boston Harbor by sentence of Court Martial.

"They left Foster, RI in the autumn of 1797, and settled in Edmeston, Otsego Co., NY between the Wharton Creek and the Unadilla River, west of Edmeston Centre, where they dwelt until the year 1820, when they removed to the western part of the town of New Berlin, Chenango County. (NY), where he died, Aug. 20, 1824, and she Jan. 11, 1844."
