Husband, John Harslett, died in 1840 and Hannah remarried to a William Richardson in 1845. She lists her father as John Ayling on the second marriage record. Witness to first marriage is Ann Ayling, presumably a sister. In the 1851 census she tells us she was born in East Meon, Hampshire. She would be part of this East Meon family group:

16 Jul 1809 D Hannah John & Mary Ayling 06 Oct 1815 S John John & Mary Ayling 20 Nov 1817 D Rebecca John & Mary Ayling 04 Apr 1820 D Sarah John & Mary Ayling 21 Feb 1822 S Henry John & Mary Ayling 20 Apr 1823 S William John & Mary Ayling [deceased in 1828] 09 Jan 1826 S Thomas John & Mary Ayling

Father John Ayling (1782-1839) was born in West Meon and deceased in Alresford. Mother is Mary Sylvester. John's name is sometimes spelled as Aillen, a common occurrence for Aylings in Hampshire in earlier periods. His West Meon family group:

24 Nov 1782 S Jonathan John & Martha Ailen 02 Nov 1783 S William John & Martha Ailen 26 Dec 1787 D Martha John & Martha Ailen 8 Feb 1796 William William & Hannah Aillen 16 May 1796 Sarah William & Hannah Aillen 8 Oct 1797 Jane William & Hannah Aillen 4 Jul 1802 Elizabeth William & Hannah Aillen

His father likely part of this West Meon family group:

14 Sep 1746 S John George & Sarah Ayllen 08 May 1748 S George George & Sarah Ayllen 04 Jun 1750 D Jane George & Sarah Ayllen 20 Oct 1751 D Sarah George & Sarah Ayllen 29 Jul 1753 D Betty George & Sarah Ayling 23 Jan 1757 S William George & Sarah Ailin

His father likely part of this West Meon family group:

22 Dec 1714 S John John Ayling 7 Oct 1716 D Ann John Ayling 05 Jul 1719 S George John Ayling 26 Dec 1723 D Sarah John & Ann Aylin 14 Feb 1730/1 D Olive Jno Aylin

His father likely deceased in West Meon in 1763. "11 Jun 1763 John Aylen 76". So he was born about 1687.

Probably part of this West Meon family group, baptisms unrecorded (or recorded elsewhere that I cannot find):

20 Jun 1683 D Mary Jo Alin bur 22nd 01 Jun 1690 D Betty John Alen 07 Nov 1693 D Joan John Alen

We might guess this is the father's West Meon baptism "19 Mar 1653/4 S John Jo Alyn" and that he was deceased in 1726 "01 Dec 1726 John Aylin".

We can guess that father John was in this West Meon family group:

08 Nov 1629 D Jane Eduardi Aylinge of Inwoode 22MAY1636 Clara Edwardi Aylin

Edward appears to have been deceased in West Meon in 1638, but it is perhaps a son to him. However, the burial isn't noted as an infant.

Edward's origins are not known but I suspect they run back to Petersfield. A systematic tracing of baptisms in all Hampshire parishes demonstrates that the origin parishes for all Aylings at the start of record keeping was in Petersfield and Bramshott --right next to the origin parishes of Aylings in West Sussex, such as Stedham. Indeed the founder of the Stedham group, John Aylyng, was residing in Bramshott in 1511. He may have been the John Ayling recorded as the Reeve of Droxford Manor in Hampshire in the late 1400s.
