Captain Garret Aylmer was born in 1635. He was the son of Sir Andrew Aylmer, 2nd Baronet, of Donadea, County Kildare, and Ellen Butler.
He married Jane FitzGerald, daughter of Philip FitzGerald, of Alloone and Culduffe, co Kildare, in 1661/62. Through his wife he acquired large estates near the Hill of Allen, County Kildare.
He predeceased his father on 20 December 1663. He was buried on 23 December 1663 at Christ Church, Dublin.
