He married ca.1531 to Elinor Fleming, Lady of Galtrim [2] daughter of Sir George Fleming (2nd son of James, 12th Lord Slane) and Margaret, sister of Piers, 8th Earl of Ormond. [3]

He was appointed Chief Serjeant, County Kildare, on 1 June 1535 ( 27 Hen VIII) and in 1543 he was High Sheriff. [4]

In 1558 he bought from Thomas, 10th Earl of Ormond, the territorial barony of Oughterany, County Kildare, including Donadea.

Research Notes

Discrepancy: Lodge's Peerage attributes the Fleming marriage to Ellice (Alice), a different sister of Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormond. [6]
According to Sir William Betham's pedigree chart of the Barons of Slane: Her name was Elinor Butler [7]
