He was born 1512 in Hornchurch, Essex, England,[1] the son of Etheldreda (Audery) Shaa, who was the daughter of Sir John Shaa (Shaw) Alderman of London, and of William Ayloffe (d. 1517).[2]
Thomas married Elizabeth Walsingham, daughter of James Walsingham (1462-1540) and Eleanor Writtle, the sister of Sir Edmund Walsingham (d. 1550) and William Walsingham (d. 1534). Thomas Ayloffe died in 1554 (2 Philip and Mary).[3]
Morant[4] stated that Thomas Ayloff died on 28 Sep 1554.
Differing interpretations of the family of origin exist between the probate document of Elizabeth's brother, Sir Edmund, and The Baronetage of England text. However, given the density of the Baronetage text, the more precise detail in the probate document should prevail. Nevertheless, the version of the probate document that is referenced is a transcribed version, and an original source would be preferable.
