Biography

Darius Ayres was a son of Thomas Ayres and his wife Mary. He was a Soldier of the Revolution from Maryland, settled for a time in North Carolina, then in Marion County, South Carolina. He married Agnes Sewell and had eight children: Thomas Darius Ayres (2 March 1788-before 1850, m. Miss Brewer, 2nd m. Amelia Jernigan), Rev. William Ayres (19 Aug. 1798-30 Jan. 1863, m. Mary Shaw), Elizabeth Ayres (5 June 1800-?), John "Jack" Ayres (2 June 1802-15 Jan. 1863, m. Miss Watson), Sarah Ayres (27 May 1804-?), Mary Ayres (27 Aug. 1807-?), Charlotte Ayres (13 Nov. 1810-?), Nancy Ayres (29 Jan. 181-?)
