Ron, Thanks for posting the children for David & Elizabeth (Ayres) Williams. Smith is an unusual given name and I feel certain that Smith Williams, grandson of Elizabeth Williams, is the same person that is mentioned in the 1843 list of sales.

This Elizabeth Ayres Williams I believe is a quandary for a lot of us. I have Elizabeth Ayres b. abt. 1765 in Bedford, Va. to Hannah and James Ayres. She was married to David Williams b. abt. 1762 unknown, parents unknown. These 4 sons were bound to James Ayres Jr. in 1800 by the overseers of the poor. James, John, Mastin, Shrewsbury. (Different folks have different names here.) Some items from Bedford records: I previously had that David died 1821 in Bedford, and Elizabeth died in 1831 in Bedford, but now see a list of items sold from the estate of Elizabeth Williams (deceased) in 1843. Prior to this time the transfer of a slave named Edom, the same slave I purchased of Jacob Williams, to a beloved grandson Smith Williams. If the same Smith, this would be my gg grandfather. 1818-1896,

Ayres-35 and Ayers-475 appear to represent the same person because: This is a duplicate. The last name was misspelled and should be Ayers.

It looks like there is a conflict on how the last name should be spelled. Probably due to merge. There are many duplicates in the siblings which needs to be sorted out. Thanks!

Hannah (Little) Ayres was merged into this profile. If anyone has a source for her maiden name as Little, I would greatly appreciate the information.

I know her first name was Hannah but would like a source for her maiden name as Little. Pat Dobson
