Ignazio was born in Montevago, Sicily on 13 November 1829 and Christened the next day at San Francesco Saverio church.[1]. He was a son of Vincenzo Azzara & Margherita Ingoglia[2]. He moved to Santa Margherita di Belice, about 2 miles away, and in 1864 married 26-year-old Maria Serafina Faccidomo. [3]. They had at least 3 children together.
Per his marriage record, Maestro Ignazio was a shoemaker by occupation.
