This profile was originally attached as husband to [Mary Pitt], but that profile actually died young and can't have been his wife and mother of his children.
Details Mary was born in 1779. Mary Pitt was born 1779, immigrated in 1797 aged 18 with her Aunt Alice May Pitt Garfield a widow aged 37. They were welcomed in Rhode Island in October by a friend Winston Eaton and wife Abigail. In April of 1798 Mary & Alice bought a carriage house on a large estate. Neither had to work as they each had money but Alice wished to teach as she had done in England. Mary married Adam Babcock in 1800 at Newport RI. Mary had two sons Adam and James. She died 1841
