Sarah Babcock was born about 1762, probably at Warwick, Orange Co., New York. She is the daughter of Samuel Babcock and Rachel.[1] Sarah married Thaddeus Scott at Warwick before 1790.
Sarah's mother, Rachel Babcock, was recorded on the first census of the United States in 1790 under Heads of Families, Warwick Town, Orange County, New York. The family consisted of two females and two males all aged 16 or over.[2] Thaddeus Scott who married Rachel's daughter, Sarah Babcock, is recorded in the same census, also at Warwick Town, Orange County, New York. His family consisted of one male and one female, both aged 16 or over and two females under the age of 16.[3] Both Rachel Babcock and Thaddeus Scott appear later in the Kingston, Ontario area, where they made petitions for land.
Research Notes: They are believed to have had a number of children as listed in family trees on http://www.treesbydan.com/p1421.htm#i39621 and on familysearch.com but not necessarily with sources. However, it is likely other children not listed above are: Mary, Rachel, Samuel and Peter.
