Jonathan Babcock was born on 30 May 1761 to Jonathan Babcock and Esther Hazard.^[1]

Jonathan married Ruth Rodman on 29 January 1795. ^[2]They had one child, Ruth Hannah Babcock, who was born three weeks prior to Ruth's death in November 1795. ^{[3] [1]}

Jonathan was a member of the Society of Friends.^[1]
