Joseph was the son of Peleg Babcock and Lucy Babcock. [1] He married 3 times. [2]His first wife was Sarah W. Potter, daughter of George Potter of S. Kingston. They were married on 19 Apr 1812. Sarah died 3 Feb 1813. They had 1 son:

Joseph married Waite Segar in 1815. Their children were:

Waite died in 1821. On 15 Feb 1824, Joseph married Hannah Babcock, daughter of Ephraim Babcock. She died in 1856. Joseph raised his family in South Kingstown, Washington, Rhode Island [3] where he worked as a coffin maker and carpenter.[4] Joseph died in 1869 and is buried in Perryville Church Cemetery, South Kingstown, Washington, Rhode Island.[5]
