Biography

Joseph was born in 1786 at Middlefield, Hampshire, Massachusetts to Julianna Judd and Benjamin Babcock . [1]

He married his first cousin Mary (Polly) Bixby, they share a set of grandparents, Ebenezer Babcock and Hannah Preston. (Joseph and Mary's marriage was on 13 DEC 1813 at Terrytown, Bradford, Pennsylvania [2]). They had two sons, Ezra B. Babcock and Elias Babcock. In 1820 the family resided in Edwards County, Illinois. [3]

While the boys were still young Joseph passed away. This was in 1827 at Edwards County, Illinois. He was buried at Gards Point, Wabash County, Illinois. [4] Later Mary would remarry to a Mr. Filkey of Pennsylvania and they would reside on a farm in Wabash County.
