Rachel Babcock was born in 1790. The 1851 Canada Census indicates that she was born in the United States and she would be 62 at her next birthday. This birth location is likely correct given that the rest of the family clearly noted as born in Ontario West. [1] Her Overseas death record, in contrast notes her birth location as "Ont" for Ontario. This is likely an assumption based on Reverend James Powley having raised his family in Ontario.
She married James Powley at Kingston, Ontario on 17 Feb 1819 (sic; prob. 1811).[2]
In 1816 Rachel Powley petitioned for land based on her father's UE service. [3]
