DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Silence by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Silence:

last name at birth should likely be spelled Badcock, consistent with Dartmouth MA Vital Records showing her father's birth there in 1731.

Hopefully the profile manager will correct this error in the spelling of the Last Name at Birth. Find a Grave and Ancestry often do not follow the original records and slap the typical modern spelling on people who went by Badcock years ago. It is true that most of these Milton line Badcocks Americanized the spelling to Babcock after the Revolutionary War.

Unfortunately, only the manager is allowed to correct this box in the edit field, but once corrected it will make it easier for other researchers to recognize where this person falls in the over all Babcock-Badcock universe. Recent Y DNA results prove that the Badcocks of MIlton Mass, are genetically distinct from the Babcock lineage that came out of Rhode Island. The more profiles that are correctly labeled, the easier it is to keep the two lines separate. Very useful for DNA research and other looking for primary sources.

Hi, I'm a Wing Taber descendant. I seek to document Silence as daughter of George Babcock and Luce House to the GSMD. The will of Silence Jenney (mother of Luce) identifies Silence Badcock as a granddaughter. See "Mayflower Deeds and Probates, Silence Jenney, Will, 12 Mar 1776, Probate Year 1776".s p. 535 of 671.

Between the Jenney will, the inherited predisposition to hearing and speech impairment and the fact that five children of Silence Babcock and Amaziah Taber were named after Babcock ancestors, I'm sold. GSMD wants more. Can anyone help? I realize Amaziah is a Francis Cooke descendant, trying for second line. Also, how did the parents of Silence Jenney, Babcock and Taber know to name the kids Silence, was speech impairment clear right after birth?

Hi Michael, I am interested in any information you have found. My husband and children are also Wing Taber descendants! Prior GSMD applicants have used the following reference, although it is not quite what you requested and perhaps no longer adequate on its own for GSMD (or perhaps it is adequate, I'm unsure): Page 29 of Descendants Of Thomas Son Of Philip Taber, by George L.
