Biography

Birth year estimated from 1850 US Census.

John was married October 19th 1828 at Boston to Dorcas Stanton. They were married by Reverend Benjamin B. Wisner. Wisner was Reverend of Old South Church from 1821 though 1832. It is possible that John and Dorcas belonged to this church.

The 1850 US Census at Leominster, Worcester, Massachusetts shows Dorcas, John and their children and indicates the parents were born in "Me" while the daughters were born in "Mass". [1]

Note: If the birthdate of John is correct on this profile, then John would have been the son of Samuel Babcock/Badcock 3rd of Augusta/Hallowell Maine based upon the Journal of Martha Ballard. [2]
