Violet Babcock was born on 7 Jun 1903 in Eland, Shawano, Wisconsin.
Her parents were Harlow Babcock and Martha Smerling. [1]
When she was two years old she was living in Muckwa, Wisconsin with her parents and older brother William George. Her father was working as a Mason. [2]
She married Ward Lyon on 1 Dec 1922. At the time of her marriage, Lila was a school teacher. "Lila went to a “normal school” after high school. There were lots of them in Wisconsin during the 20’s and 30’s. They were a one year program that taught high school graduates how to be teachers. They were mostly employed at one room country schools that had all 8 grades in the one room.
It was meant for ambitious young people of limited means. Lila had her first son, Wayne, when she was 20 so she maybe taught one year or so." (This information was given by her cousin.)
