Roswell was born November 1 1764. [1]. Roswell is remembered by a cousin as having married to Miss Holt. [2] Silas Holt resided in Ashford around this time and had a number of daughters close to Roswell in age.
Roswell was a very early settler of Liberty, Ulster County (later Sullivan County) New York. He was elected as an Assessor during the first town meeting on April 7, 1807. On Aug. 12, 1809 he was present at the first church meeting of "The Neversink Branch of Pleasant Valley Church, that part resident in the town of Liberty."
Roswell died February 17, 1818 in Liberty, Sullivan, New York, United States. He was the age of 53 years at his passing. Birth estimate based upon his age of at death would be up to a year previous to February 17, 1765. Stated birth, November 1, 1764, was about 4 months earlier.[3]
Roswell was buried at Liberty Town Cemetery in Liberty County, New York where his daughter, Mary Roswell HALL, was also buried. Mary passed away August 19, 1833 at the age of 17 years 3 days. Based upon her stated age at death, Mary's birth was about July 29, 1816. If Mary was over 16 when she married Reuben Hall then the marriage was after July 26, 1815.[3]
I believe that there is an error on the cemetery inscription list and that Mary Babcock Hall, daughter of Roswell and wife of Reuben Hall was actually 47 years of age when she died and not 17.
In the Ashford CT Barbour records under Babcock it says this: "Percy, of Liberty, N.Y., m. Sampson Keyes, of Ashford, Jan. 6, 1824, by Rev. Philo Judson; 5; 12" Then in the Keyes Genealogy it mentions Sampson Keyes Jr. marrying Perces Holt Babcock.

So, opens the strong possibility that Percy (who was the third wife of Keyes) is actually the widow of Roswell and the very same Miss Holt mentioned in the Benjamin Cleveland Genealogy. It turns out Silas Holt did have a daughter named Percy Holt who is the proper age for all this to fit! CT Birth Record for Percy Holt 1767, b to Silas and Mary: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F77B-2HC Percy Keyes's Find A grave does misstate her age at death though, reading 68 or 69 instead of what is likely 63.
