In 1850 Clark R. Babcock, his wife Mariah and his children resided in Marion, Wayne County, New York. They had recently moved from Ohio, though even earlier were in New York. [2] Marie Well was Clark's second spouse.

By 1860 Clark Babcock and his family had relocated to Baraboo, in Sauk County, Wisconsin. He can be seen will some of his children, but he and his second wife Maria are noted as "C" and "M" Babcock. [3]
1875 Wisconsin Census shows Clark and family at Lodi, Columbia, Wisconsin. [4]
Clark was buried with second wife Mariah and his son Jasper Newton Babcock at Village (AKA Hill) Cemetery in Merrimac, Sauk County, Wisconsin, very close to Baraboo. [5] [6]
Clark's father was Isaac Babcock b. 1769 who married Persis Rice daughter of Silas Rice, so Ira was probably a slight twist of the name. [7] [8] The Isaac Babcock family had a strong association with New York, then in the 1840-1850s with Ohio. [9]
