Biography
Marguerite Utecia Babin was born on 16 July 1837, probably in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, United States. She was the daughter of Hippolyte Babin and Arthemise Rivet. Her baptism on 3 November 1837 was recorded in the registers of the Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, as well as at St. Gabriel Church in Iberville Parish.[1]
She married Henri David Favre on 20 July 1854 in Ascension Parish.[2][3]
She died at the age of 28 years on about 1 September 1865, when she was buried in Ascension Parish. Her burial was recorded at what was probably known then as The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary catholic church. The church went through several name changes since its establishment in 1860, and is currently known as St. Theresa of Avila church. It was moved from its original location to Gonzales, Louisiana; the actual location of her grave is uncertain.[4]
