Biography

Osite Delphine Babineau, daughter of David Babineau of La Pointe, Louisiana and Osite Melancon, was born 10 September 1807 and baptized by Gabriel Isabey, St. Martin Parish priest, on 22 November 1807. Her grandparents were named at baptism: Charles Babineau and Anne Guilbeau and Joseph Melancon and Ursule Babin. Her godparents were Charles Melancon and Anastasie Poirier. Ozitte Delphine married Nicolas Cormier, son of Michel Cormier and Ludivine Guilbeau 11 February 1828 in St. Martin Parish; Father Marcel Borella officiated at the ceremony.

Delphine Babineau died 3 July 1836 when she was only 28 years old. ^[1]
