Hermenes (Herman) J. Baca, age 86, a resident of Adelino, NM, passed away, quietly and comfortably, on the morning of June 18, 2016. He was a veteran of the Korean War and recipient of three Bronze Medals for his service. Herman retired from Sandia National Labs and was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Tome. He will be fondly remembered for his great physical strength, Love of family, his farm and ranch heritage, and deeply-rooted moral character.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife and companion of 53 years, Lucy Baca; father and mother, Juan and Elena Baca; sisters, Andrea Romero and Agnes Lindsay; and brother, Miguel.
Herman is survived by his five children, John and wife, Beverly Freeman, James Baca, Jeffery Baca, Jessica and husband, Eric Jarman, Jeanette and husband, Pierre Autrey; brother, Jesus Chuey Baca; sisters, Priscilla Waltz, Isabel May and Maria Swanson and husband, Rick; grandchildren, John Charles Freeman, Stephen Freeman and Samantha Jarman; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends who share in this sense of loss.
All services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome. A Public Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Tome Catholic Cemetery.
