Biography

Anna G. (Baca) Bluemer passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 after a long illness. Born in New Jersey, Ann was the first of 8 children born to the late Martin and Susan (Micka) Baca. She grew up on the family farm in Southampton MA before moving to Holyoke after her wedding. Ann was a very active member of First Lutheran Church in Holyoke, the Ladies Guild, and contributed her famous apple pies to the annual Pumpkin Patch Festival. While raising her sons, she was a Den Mother and a member of the Rock Valley Mother’s Club. Over the years, she worked part-time at J.M. Fields, Brookwood Court, and the Holyoke Public Schools lunch program. Ann was known for her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-six years, Charles E. Bluemer; a sister Mildred Kowalski, a sister-in-law Kathy Baca, and three brothers-in-law: Charles Barszewski, Albin Kowalski, and Jesse Meade. Ann is survived by her sons Charles M. Bluemer (Marysue Mooney) and Kenneth A. (Constance) Bluemer; two grandsons, Steven (Leina’ala) Bluemer of AZ and Kurt (Jerissa) Bluemer of FL, as well as her great grandchildren, Rowen, Everett, Samual, Aydin, Winter and Serenity. She also leaves her sisters: Elizabeth (Gerard) Houle, Adele Meade, Judith Barszewski, Alice (Francis) Tokarski and brothers Martin Baca and M. Steven (Gina) Baca, as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her best friend since childhood, Mary Kapinos of NY. The funeral will be held Friday, December 15th at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1810 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot Street in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held Thursday December 14 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Children’s Fund, 1810 Northampton Street, Holyoke MA 01040 or to Friends of the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke, Inc., PO Box 1338, Holyoke MA 01040.
