Biography

OBITUARY: The family of Ken Baca is extremely saddened to announce that our beloved Ken passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 6th. Ken was born on March 15, 1962 in Santa Fe, the 7th of nine children. He is survived by his father Felipe Baca, daughter Tiffany Valdez and grandchildren Joseph and Shay, sons Nolan and Nicolas Baca, stepdaughter Michelle Lujan (Sean), and his loving fiancée Lisa Hertrich and her children Taryn, Gavin, Grayson, and Ashtyn Hertrich, and godson Derryck Sena. He is also survived by his siblings Michael Baca (Renae), Nena Perkin (Stephen), Phillip Baca (Reine), Darlene Baca, Janice Sisneros (Albert), Steve Baca (Leanna), Beata Baca, Melanie Sena (Michael), numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He also leaves behind countless friends and business associates. He was loved by many. Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Baca, and grandparents Ricardo and Agueda C de Baca, and Pascual and Francisquita Baca.

Ken was an Albuquerque businessman and established First Choice Heating and Air Conditioning, a successful business for 26 years. He accumulated many loyal clients during his tenure. Ken previously served in the U.S. Army (1979-1983), a City of Santa Fe police officer, Santa Fe County sheriff deputy, and worked with a security service in Los Angeles, CA. Ken was happiest when spending time with family. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed family camping trips, riding with the New Mexico Jeep Group, and escaping to our beautiful mountains and lakes.

Ken will best be remembered as a standup guy, honorable, generous, a kind and giving man, fun loving, gentle, compassionate, and light hearted. He was always there to lend a helping hand, and served his customers professionally and empathetically. Ken touched so many people and was a great father, brother, uncle, grandfather and son. He was someone you could always count on in so many ways. He lived life to the fullest and his quick wit and humor brought smiles and laughter to everyone in his path. He was incredibly loving and proud of his sons and daughters.

Ken, God must have a bigger purpose for you. Our grief is unbearable. You were a bright light of love and humor, a genuinely good soul, an angel on earth. We will treasure the memories. The world will be less bright without your shining character. You will be in our hearts forever. Godspeed.
