On 4 October 1784, Elizabeth married John Townsend in Shenandoah, Virginia. They had the following children:

On August 6, 1810, John (age 49) and Elizabeth (age 52) lived in Wythe, Virginia. Also in the household were: two boys ages 10 to 15; two males ages 16 to 25; and one girl under the age of 10.
On August 7, 1820, John (age 59) and Elizabeth (age 62) farmed in Adair, Kentucky. Also in the household was one male between the ages of 16 and 25.
