Louis (or Lewis) Franklin Bachman was a son of Jacob Bachman and Anna (Stubblebine) Bachman, born in Pennsylvania (probably in Chester County) in September 1829 (date based on the age recorded on his gravestone).
He probably is the boy age 10 to 14 whom the 1840 U.S. Census recorded in the household of Jacob Bachman in Coventry Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. [1]
The 1850 U.S. Census recorded Lewis Bachman, age 20, in North Coventry Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, in the household of George Stublebine and Catharine Stublebine, both age 32, and four Stublebine children. Both George Stublebine and Lewis Bachman were blacksmiths.[2] Louis's parents and siblings were recorded together in a different household in North Coventry Township.
Louis F. Bachman died at the reported age of 25 years and 7 months on 12 April 1855, just two weeks after the death of his father. He was buried in the Shenkel Reformed Church Cemetery in North Coventry Township.[3] Louis was the eldest son. His father's will had named son Lewis Franklin to receive a larger share of the estate than his other children and it designated him to be one of the executors.[4]
