Biography

John Wesley Back , born July 22, 1835, was the son of Alfred Back and Isabel Caudill. He was known as "Glad John."[1]

John served in the Civil War, in the KY 5th Infantry Regiment, Company A.

He married Sarah Combs, age 17, in Oct. 22, 1856, in Morgan County, KY [2] [3] They had one child who died as an infant. Sarah died in 1894 [4].

In 1895 he married his second wife Sarah Barker. [5] The couple had two sons, but both died young. Sarah Barker Back died February 16, 1926, outliving John by 16 years.[6]

John died on September 29, 1908 and was buried in Higgins Cemetery in Kentucky. [7]
