Ludwell Lydall Bacon was born in 1782. He is the son of Harwood Bacon. He married Nancy Ann Long on 21 Dec 1794 and they had a son John Parks Bacon:

Ludwell Bacon was an early pioneer to St Louis, and arrived before the Louisiana purchase. He lived in the area that is now Chesterfield/Wildwood in west St Louis County. His father in law, Lawrence Long was also an early settler. He appeared to represent the Bonhomme Township as a comissioner for the location of the Old St. Louis Courthouse, which still stands in downtown St. Louis [1].
The record is partly torn and difficult to read:
"I the undersign Ludwell Bacon do herby _ _ _ wholey renounce _ rights to as executor or administrator of the estate of my father-in-law Lawrence Long ---- or of any part thereof or any bond or consideration whatsoever in __ money where of I have hereunto set my hand first day of April 1807." (He signed his name Ludwell Bacon)
In 1811 he (Ludwell) as heir received $278.30

Died intestate, Administrators Thomas J. Ferguson and Robert Lewis (both were son-in-laws) Appraisers John Hempstead, Stephen Lanham, and Wm. Tyler, William Long, John Brackenridge and John P. Riley posted Security bond for $15,000.
Estate valued at a little over $12,000 - Recorded July 28, 1835 .... name spelled Lydal, Lydall, Ludwell in court docs.
The estate was unencumbered. All the heirs are listed under Ann Long Bacon, Widow. The estate indicates there was 200 acres of land lying in St Louis Count on the Missouri acquired by title bond from Gabriel Long.
400 acres of land in St Louis Co and in the water ?? Bonhomme, 1/8 heir at law of Lawrence Long 1/8 by purchased from Lawrence Long and Andrew J. Long. Estate as a great deal of farming equipment and numerous horses some of the names of the horses were Dick, Rainbow, Prince, Wheezy, Eagle, although there was some 12-14 horses. two bulls named Sap and Gin.
Ann, the widow, desired to retain 15 slaves and to deduct their value from her portion, however the slaves were sold in 1837 so each heir received a portion of their value. It is believed Ann, the widow was not pleased with this event.

Ann paid to buy certain slaves back.
There was an interesting event concerning a 19 year old slave named Richardson a run away indicted for burglary. (attorney H.R. Gamble) The estate paid $ 2.00 for his return and $ 40.00 to defend Richardson in Court against the charges of burglary. Richardson was later transported to Lexington, Kentucky (Feb 1838) where he was sold for over $600.00 the administrator Ferguson stating that to sell Richardson in Ky was more profitable.
The will was signed by Nancy Bacon, Robert Lewis, Lucy B Lewis, Preston Gordon, Julia A Gordon, (James L. Bacon, Margaret E. Bacon, Wm. P. B acon, by James Brackenridge Guardian) and Harriett Worhington, Wm. E. Ferguson, Phebe Ferguson by Thomas J. Ferguson Guardian, Eliza P Brown, Dewitt C Brown by John M Brown, Guardian, Dudley Campbell, and Laura A. Campbell.[2]
He died 14 Jul 1835 and is buried in Long Cemetery in Chesterfield, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA
