Sources

I have found some more info relevant to your branch of my tree. It concerns firstly Richard Bacon 1758-.

Richard had a second marriage. On 20 Jun 1814 at West Wittering he married Mary Hoare. The register entry records Richard as a widower. They had a son named Richard who was baptised at West Wittering on 25 Jul 1814.The register entry gives his parents as Richard and Mary Bacon. The 1841 census for East Wittering shows Richard living with his half brother Edmund but listed as his son!The 1871 census for West Wittering shows Richard living with his half sister Elizabeth(Collins). The census document notes that Richard was an idiot from Birdham.

I cannot find a marriage for Edmund and Mary. The marriage that you have appears to have taken place in Norfolk so I think that it is wrong. The 1851 census for West Wittering shows Edmund and Mary living together as man and wife. The census records Mary as a school mistress born about 1794 in West itchenor. The only Mary that I can find in the West Itchenor Parish Register is Mary Hoare ,baptised on 21 Jul 1793 the daughter of John and Phillipa Hoare. This leads me to believe that Edmund had a relationship with his stepmother but did not get married.

As a member of The Sussex Family History group I have access to all Sussex baptisms marriages and burials. So far I have not been able to find burials for either Richard or his first wife Elizabeth.

Kind Regards Paul.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Richard by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Richard:
