According to Platina[1]:

Alexander the Second, whose name at first was Anselm, a Milanese, Bishop of Lucca, upon the death of Nicolas, though absent, was, for his good temper, affability, and learning, elected Pope.

Anselmo was elected pope on 30 September 1061 and crowned on 1 October 1061.[2]

He was pope during the Norman invasion of England.

He died on 21 April 1073.[2]
